Diff between CONVERGENCE & SYNERGY

Convergence a coming together from different directions…
Term used to describe the ways in which previously discreet media forms and processes are drawn together and combined through digital technologies.
Convergence is about the ability of one piece of technology to communicate with others, rather than simply reducing everything that is currently done by several devices into one ‘box’.

Synergythe working together of two or more things, people, or organizations, especially when the result is greater than the sum of the their individual effects or capabilities.

The process by which media companies acquire and harness the relations between two or more elements of a media production and distribution process, i.e using the same local news-gathering resources for both a local radio station and a local newspaper. Another example is the selling of two or more compatible products simultaneously, as in the multimedia merchandising surrounding the release of a ‘blockbuster’ movie.

7 Deadly Evaluation Questions:

The questions that must be addressed in the evaluation are:

1  In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

2  How does your media product represent particular social groups?

3  What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

4  Who would be the audience for your media product?

5  How did you attract/address your audience?

6  What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

7  Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

The deadline for your Evaluations, to be finished and posted onto your blogs AND for your blogs to be completed and closed is:

Friday 29 April - 3:30pm

Evaluations

Alice Winter's evaluations are a superb example of how to CONFIDENTLY evaluate your productions coursework - everyone MUST have a similar A3 size sheet of planning of their evaluation questions before they even think about starting to record vlogs of their responses:

Georgie's evaluations were also one of the best from previous year's - she mastered the art of using Prezi alongside a voiceover - a really effective visual plus a narrative that explained everything she was attempting to produce:
